Solution: Turning the PC on.

Lecturers sometimes shut down the PC after their session. The next lecturer will then find the lectern unresponsive so it seems that the "lectern is not working at all".

Note: It can be difficult to see where to turn the computer on. Access is through a slot under the lectern. If you don't have a readily available source of light like a mobile phone, if you press "End" the lights in the lecture theatre will come on fully.

Solution: I unmuted the microphone.

Always check that the correct microphone is unmuted. (Lapel Mic 1 in this instance)
On lecterns where the microphones have a transmitter, switch the microphone  on. (The switch is highlighted in the image to the right.) If the green light on the front of the transmitter isn't on, the batteries need replacing. (The batteries are replaced regularly, but spares are also keep in the drawer with the microphone.)

Some lecterns have a microphone dock where the microphone is charged.  Please make sure you return the microphone to the dock so that it will re-charge when not in use. At first the microphone will flash green intermittently.  It is ready for use when it glows red continuously.

Solution: I pressed the Escape Key (ESC).

Solution 1: The VGA cable was not connected to the guest laptop. Once it was connected, the problem was solved.

Solution 2: The video signal was not sent to the VGA output on the laptop. Once I pressed the key on my laptop the problem was solved.

Solution 3: Toggle the output of your laptop using the function key Fn in combination with the F key. I have a Dell laptop, I pressed Fn and F8 together and the problem was solved.

Solution 4: I checked that the lectern computer was on – it was, the power button was illuminated. PowerPoint may be “blanked”; pressing the B key solved the problem. 
 
Solution 5: I checked that the lectern computer was on – it wasn't. Turning the computer on solved the problem.  

I reported the issue after the lecture. No problem could be found when the technician checked. 

Suggestion: Try pressing Escape (ESC) to exit the program.

Solution: Press 'source' first.

You need to press a source (PC, Laptop, Document Camera etc.) on the lectern and then choose your projector.

Solution: I checked that the PC button on the lectern was on – it was.  I checked that the lectern computer was on – it wasn't. Turning the computer on solved the problem.

Solution:  Make sure NetLogin is running before the Internet browser is launched. This can be accessed from the computer desktop using and the icon looks like this:
