Most rooms are equipped with a lectern microphone and one radio/lapel microphone. Always use the lapel microphone if you are recording the lecture or moving around the room while lecturing.

Press the button on the lapel microphone to switch it on. The red LED light will turn green when it is ready to use.

Common problem: "Microphone isn't working".
Solutions:
1. Check that the microphone isn't muted.
2. If using a lapel microphone, check it is turned on.
3. Check that the lapel microphone light is green. The battery might be flat. Always return the microphone to the recharge cradle when finished.

Common problem: Lapel microphone or clip missing.

Solution: Call for help - someone has walked off with the lapel microphone, or detached the clip from the microphone pack. PLEASE, be sure to UNCLIP the microphone carefully from your clothing. Replacement microphones cost the University over $1000 to replace and replacement clips cost about $300 per week!

Common problem: Feedback is distorting the sound.
Solution: Try reducing the volume of the microphone you are using slightly; tapping the left arrow on the display screen 2 or 3 times might be sufficient, otherwise mute all microphones except the one you are using.

Always press End Session when finished to reset the room for the next user.

Common problem: Previous lecturer has turned off the local computer. Never turn off the local computer as this causes unecessary delays and problems for the next lecture.

Use the document camera to project paper documents or objects.

Adjust using brightness, zoom and focus arrows. Upper Lights illuminates the object on the document camera. All Off turns the document camera off.

Display your own laptop on the projector.

Common problem: no video signal.
Solution: Send the video signal to the VGA port on your laptop. Press the key on your laptop with this symbol . If your laptop has a HDMI or Display Port, but no VGA port, you shouldrequest technical help to see what options are available.

Use the lectern computer as your source for presenting PowerPoints, navigating the web or browsing your USB stick.

Common problem: The computer has been turned off. The computer is housed beneath the electern.

Common problem: Cannot connect to Internet. Make sure NetLogin is running before the Internet browser is launched. This can be accessed from the computer desktop using and the icon looks like this:

Plug in your Auxilary AV device (video camera, digital camera etc.) using your own RCA cables inserted into the corresponding plugs on the electern panel. It is a good idea to test the equipment before the lecture.

The DVD controls are grouped into three menus: Numeric, Menu and Control.

Tip: Always use the Open-Close button on the touch screen to open/close the DVD tray.

Common problem: DVD won't play. Try ejecting the disc from the DVD player and playing it on the local PC; run VLC media player installed on the local PC. This can resolve DVD zoning issues or incompatible formats. If all else fails, request technical help.

Use the Numeric pad to skip through scenes set up on the DVD.

Menu pad allows you to access the root menu of a DVD for scene selection or bonus material. Use the directional arrows to highlight the root menu options.

Control pad mimics the typical functions you would expect to see on a DVD remote. i.e. play, pause, eject etc.

Use Exam mode during exams or conferences to disable room sensors for extended periods of time. Computer, lights and projectors will remain on regardless of extended inactivity.

Press Menu to return to the main Source Selection Menu.

The projector will only work when the status is "Ready."

Tip: The previous user has pressed “End session” and the projector is currently switching off and in a “cooling down” state. The room is also resetting and will not respond to controls for approximately 90 seconds.
